Will McClay, who has spent 11 seasons in the Arena Football League as a player and coach, has been named Director of Player Personnel for Orlando XFL.
McClay, 33, played four seasons (1989-92) for the Detroit Drive at wide receiver/linebacker. His career numbers included 30 receptions for 422 yards and 3 touchdowns to go with 101 total tackles, 20 pass defenses and 3 interceptions. He helped pace the Drive to three ArenaBowl championships in four seasons. McClay played defensive back at Rice University for four years (1985-88) and also attended camp with the Dallas Cowboys (1989) before joining the Drive.
Following his retirement as a player in 1992, McClay joined Tim Marcum's Drive staff where he coached the secondary and special teams. He moved on to Milwaukee Mustangs as Defensive Coordinator in 1994 and held the same position with the Florida Bobcats in 1995. McClay served as Defensive Coordinator and Director of Player Personnel for the Anaheim Piranhas in 1996. He spent the next three seasons with the Grand Rapids Rampage as Defensive Coordinator and Director of Player Personnel, adding the title of Assistant Head Coach in his last season.

McClay was hired by the XFL as a consultant and league scout before being named to his post with Orlando XFL.
